On This Day in Somerset - Helen Pugh
Helen Pugh is the author of several works relating to Somerset that focus on real-life and legendary women who lived, loved, worked and struggled in Somerset. She grew up in the county and returned in 2018. For children, she has written Jungle-tastic Tales and Inca-tastic Tales, short story anthologies for children based on extensive research into the rainforest and Inca history, respectively, as well as Cuentos incatásticos for Spanish speakers. Her interest in South America and the Incas began in 2006, when she first went to Ecuador. Helen studied Spanish and Italian at university and has a lifelong passion for history, especially that of historical women who made history, but have been sidelined.

From Roman times to the present day and from Athelney to the Zoylands, this book celebrates 366 days of women across the county of Somerset, a calendar where women from all walks of life take their rightful place: centre stage. Readers can discover which woman is connected to their birthday or any special date, making this almanac a unique and personal way to engage with local history. It's a book that can be read one page a day throughout the year or be devoured in a handful of sittings.
