Taking in the View - Life from a Scooter - Mark Bennett

Born in 1968, the teenage Mark Bennett discovered Vespas and Lambrettas through his love of music, in particular The Jam, and the sharply dressed scooter riding mods of the swinging sixties. Traipsing around the country on scooters with friends, he relished the freedom that the scooterboy movement of the 1980s brought him, and which he wrote about in Taking in the View – Life from a Scooter. Many years later, both music and scooters are still a fundamental part of his being and have been joined by the new love of writing and creating books. The desire to travel on his scooter continues to be a fulfilling passion and there are plans afoot for forthcoming trips that will keep him busy for some time to come.

GENRE: Memoir

Blurb:

1980s Britain was a harsh place. Sharply defined styles separated a multitude of teenage subcultures. One young lad discovered music, fashion and the scooter scene, the one place that will give him purpose and belonging. A place where everyone can fit in, whatever jacket they wear on their back. Scooters became a constant presence in his life, gave him purpose, drive and took him far and wide, making a wealth of memories along the way. Spread over 40 years, this book tells his story.
